ZNZ-EU Business Forum 2025

On February 27, 2025, ZF Devco BV’s Managing Director, Nahaat Mahfoudh, participated in the ZNZ-EU Business Forum 2025 officiated by His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. ZF Devco is pleased to have been a part of the discussion of how European investments continue to play a significant role in the Tanzanian growing economy, through the event’s theme of "Strengthening the Zanzibar-European Union Partnership". In the last four years, European investments in Tanzania account for 41% of the registered projects, contributing more than €2.5 billion to the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Together with the Zanzibar Ports Corporation (ZPC), the Zanzibar Maritime Authority (ZMA), the Azam Marine Co. Ltd, and the Zanzibar Special Maritime Envoy from the Netherlands, ZF Devco deliberated on several critical topics, such as the strengthening of port infrastructure for sustainable growth, the enhancement of public-private collaboration, the investment in maritime education and safety, and the alignment of maritime security with economic development.

The event was attended by government officials including Hon. Shariff Ali Shariff, Minister of State in the President’s Office for Economic Affairs and Investments and Hon. Dr. Khaled Salum, Minister of Infrastructure, Communication and Transport. At the same time, European officials attending the event included Ms. Christine Grau, European Union Ambassador to Tanzania, and Mr. Wiebe de Boer, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Tanzania.

Nahaat Mahfoudh reflected, “As one of the priority projects in Zanzibar, ZF Devco is set to make a substantial contribution to Foreign Direct Investment. Our upcoming project, the Zanzibar Passenger and Ro-Ro Ferry Terminal, will deliver quality services to the islands. This initiative will positively impact Zanzibar's economy by improving passenger movement efficiency at one of the busiest ferry terminals on Africa's Eastern Seaboard, creating over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs for the islands.”

ZF Devco would like to thank our partners who have made this event possible and looks forward to future cooperation with more European organizations and individuals to further economic development and sustainable growth in Tanzania.
